The Captured Kings of Adonibezek
Feb 4, 2024 • Bishop Rick D Brackett
The name “Adonibezek” means, “lord of Bezek.” Adonibezek was a powerful king who oversaw 10,000 soldiers. He was one of the most violent kings in the Old Testament and was greatly feared because of the many atrocities he had committed. One of his trademarks of humiliation was cutting off the thumbs and big toes of the enemy kings that he captured. He had captured and tortured 70 kings by cutting off their thumbs and big toes.
But in the end, King Adonibezek was the one captured, and Judah and Simeon cut off his thumbs and big toes. He confessed that what was done to him was justified because it was done by him to others. "As I have done, so God has requited me." Then they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died.
